Pakistan auto industry is facing many issues due to bad economy of Pakistan. Due to the low foreign exchange reserves, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had imposed some restrictions on opening of Letters of Credits (LCs), due to which Suzuki Pakistan and other auto manufacturers have been facing difficulties importing the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) vehicle kits for auto manufacturing. Same is the reason all of these auto manufacturers were facing the close days per week in which they could not work.
One important example is of Pak Suzuki Motor Company itself. Until last week Pak Suzuki have not been functioning for the consecutive three weeks. As the manufacturing plant of Pak Suzuki was closed for consecutive three weeks due to shortage of supplies needed for manufacturing. This definitely should have been one of the factor behind the car prices increase. Also local currency value deuteriation is also one big cause of price hike in Pakistan.
Other auto manufacturers of Pakistan are also facing same issues. For same reason, recently first the Toyota Pakistan increased their car prices recently in same month of Jan 2023 and soon after that Honda Pakistan also increased their car prices after Toyota.
