Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8 is right on the end right now. Heat is on its maximum as the most popular local tournament of Pakistan Cricket nears its end. Three of total six teams have already been eliminated. Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings were eliminated in previous stage of the tournament, however, Islamabad United was sent back home by Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator 1 match.
Peshawar Zalmi Innings
Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first. While batting from the Peshawar Zalmi side, Babar Azam scored the most 64 runs on the 39 balls with the help of 10 boundaries. Muhammad Haris scored 34 on just 17 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. Saim Ayub contributed 23, Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored 16 and Haseebullah Khan scored 15. Overall Peshawar Zalmi scored 183 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
While bowling from Islamabad united Shadaab Khan took two wickets while Fazalhaq Farooqi, Faheem Ashraf, Hassan Ali and Muhammad Wasim took one wicket each. Mobasir Khan bowled just one over, given 7 runs and did not took any wickets.
Islamabad United Innings
From Islamabad United batting side, Rahmanullah Gurbaz lost early wicket while he scored just 10 runs on 7 balls. But Alex Hales and Shoaib Maqsood covered up for him very well. Alex Hales scored 57 runs on 37 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes while Sohaib Maqsood scored 60 runs on just 48 balls with the help of same 7 fours and 2 sixes.
However as the sohaib Maqsood departed, the wicket started falling very fast. Three next batters Azam Khan, Colin Munro and Faheem Ashraf got out without entering double figure score, meanwhile Alex Hales also got out. Shadaab Khan tried to improve things with his 26 runs on just 12 balls, while he remained not out, but alone he could not help Islamabad United win the match. In 20 overs, Islamabad United was able to score 171 runs, so they lost the match by 13 runs. This way, they also got eliminated from the PSL 8 T20 Cricket tournament.
While bowing from Peshawar Zalmi, Aamer Jamal and Salman Arshad took two wickets each while Azmatullah Omarzai took 1 wicket. Aamer Jamal also run out the Faheem Ashraf. For same run out and two wickets which he took, Aamer Jamal was awarded the Player to the match title and prize.
Match Summary
Islamabad United won the toss elected to field first. While batting first Peshawar Zalmi scored 183 runs for the loss of 8 wickets on a pitch which favoured bowlers. Islamabad United while batting second was able to scored just 171 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. At once they were very well in control of things but couldn’t finish it off at the end as they lost wickets frequently.
Peshawar Zalmi won the match by 13 runs. Moment of the match award was given to Aamer Jamal for bowling out Alex Hales. The safe hands award was given to Mubasir Khan for picking he catch of James Neesham. Energetic batter of the match award was given to Muhammad Harif for his frequent 34 runs which he scored on just 17 balls.
Salman Irshad was given best bowler of the match award for giving just 18 runs in four overs and taking 2 wickets. Finally, Player of the match award was given to Aamer Jamal for taking two wickets and running out the Faheem Ashraf.

Playoffs Stage of PSL 8
As today Peshawar Zalmi won against Islamabad United in the Eliminator 1, Peshawar Zalmi will play second eliminator tomorrow while Islamabad United will head back home, as they have been eliminated.
Yesterday, Multan Sultans have qualified to PSL 8 final by the beating Lahore Qalandars in Qualifier. Tomorrow, Lahore Qalandars will meet Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 2 and winner of that match will meet Multan Sultan in the PSL 8 final match which have already been moved to a date, one day early, from 19th to 18th March, 2023.
Tomorrow’s eliminator 2 match between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi will be started playing with the first bowl of the inning being bowled right at 7:00 PM.
