Today in the tenth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8, Lahore Qalandars took on Quetta Gladiators. Just before the start, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and they decided to field first. However, this decision did not proved well for them, as Lahore Qalandars were able to put up a very good total on the scoreboard.
Interesting thing about the Lahore Qalandars’ total was, no one did even a half century, however, still Qalandars were able to put a big total of 198 runs on scoreboard. Best score was of Shai hope, he scored 47 runs on 32 balls, then Sikandar Raza 32 on 16 balls. Mira baig scored 31 runs on 15 balls, Hussain Talat scored 26, Fakhar Zaman 22, Kamran Ghulam 21 and everyone else scored lower than that.
Total of 198 was achieved for the loss of 6 wickets and this way the target for Quetta was set at 199 to be chased in their 20 overs. If we talk of Quetta Gladiators’ bowling, Qais Ahmed and Odean smith took 2 wickets each whereas Muhammad Hasnain and Muhammad Nawaz took one wicket each.
In Quetta Gladiators innings, we also did not saw any fifties, however, there were more players with much lower scores, same is the reason that they were not able to chase the target. Infact on end of their innings, Quetta Gladiators were at 135 for the loss of 8 wickets.
For Quetta Gladiators Jason Roy scored the top 48 runs, then after him Hafeez Ahmed scored 25, Sarfaraz Ahmed scored 16 and Martin Guptill scored 15. No one else was able to enter the double figures.
As far as bowling of Lahore Qalandars is concerned, Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets by giving 22 runs in his four over, David Weise also took 3 wickets by giving 23 runs in his fours over, Rashid Khan and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.
Overall a great victory and confidence booster for Lahore Qalandars, as they were on bottom of tournament standings. Lahore Qalandars beaten Quetta Gladiators by 63 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi was awarded the player of the match title and trophy.
